Surgical intervention remains one of the key pillars of treatment in health care. With an increasing number of procedures being performed worldwide, surgical wound complications can lead to high morbidity and mortality, especially for patients with multiple comorbidities. The economics of addressing these issues, as well as the toll on quality of life, can be burdensome to patients, health care systems, and countries. Clinicians in all phases of care should be equipped with the knowledge to identify potential risk factors, intervene early, and manage any adverse outcomes that may arise.


Hospital-Acquired Infections: Prevention and Management

Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) are major causes of mortality and morbidity and impose a significant burden on patients, health care professionals, and health care systems. This white paper discusses the epidemiology of HAIs and predisposing factors and includes an in-depth look at antimicrobial dressings and other preventive measures. Bioburden: The number of microorganisms within a wound is referred to as bioburden. Bioburden management is crucial in post-operative care to prevent infection.

Strategies for Management and Prevention
