Indications

Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressings are indicated for moderate to heavy exudating wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and other wounds healing through secondary intention, dehisced wounds, second-degree burns, skin fistulae, fungating carcinomas and other types of exuding wounds. Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing is particularly effective when used in combination with compression therapy on wounds such as venous leg ulcers.

Contraindications

Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing is not designed, sold or intended for use except for as indicated.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not apply to dry or drying wound areas and other areas with little or no exudate. Do not use on sensitive areas such as mucous membranes or the eye. Not indicated for third-degree burns. Do not use on exposed bone, muscle or tendon. Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing alone does not provide control or treatment of infection. Product expands as it absorbs exudate. It is important to provide room for product expansion when applying Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing, as too much expansion may adversely affect wound healing under some circumstances. When applied in a deep cavity, the wound should be monitored closely. Failure to change the dressing regularly as indicated will increase the weight of the product and could therefore cause pressure to the tissue and vessels. The intervals of the changing have to be determined by a physician in charge, based on the wound condition (degree of exudation, etc.). Do not use in direct contact with pressure sensitive parts of the body. Do not apply dressing to the respiratory tract or any parts thereof, such as mouth or nose, nor to the ears or other orifices of the body. Do not eat, inhale or ingest the Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing or any of its components. Use only for on indicated wounds with moderate to high exudate levels and only under the direction of a qualified medical professional.

Adverse Effects/Reactions

The design of the dressing may result in rapid fluid absorption from the wound site, which may cause the dressing to adhere to drier wounds.

Mode of Use/Application

Clean the wound as directed by a medical professional with a sterile saline solution or other standard wound cleansing product and/or procedure. Note: Do not apply petroleum or grease-based products to the wound when using Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing, since this may reduce the absorbing capacity of the dressing.

Select a suitable size Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing. Allow for 1" overlap beyond wound edge, the dressing should completely cover the wound site. Do not try to remove the outer envelope. Do not cut Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing. Folding the product can affect the maximum absorbency.

Remove the protective paper liner and place Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing on the wound. Gently press the adhesive border to the intact skin to secure the dressing.

Removal & Change Frequency

The Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing should be examined for saturation regularly, particularly during the early phases of treatment. The Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressings should be removed before becoming completely saturated with fluid and before fluid penetrates the back of the dressing. To remove Cutimed® Sorbion® Border Dressing, lift one corner and gently peel off the dressing.
